Transformation of 2D RVE Local Stress and Strain Distributions to 3D Observations in Full Phase Crystal Plasticity Simulations of Dual-Phase Steels

Crystal plasticity-based numerical simulations help understand the local deformation behavior of multiphase materials. It is known that in full phase simulations, 2-dimensional (2D) representative volume elements (RVEs) results are distinctly different from 3-dimensional (3D) RVEs. In this work, difference 2D and 3D RVEs investigated systematically, effect magnification, total strain composition analyzed. The dual-phase (DP)-steel generated using DREAM-3D. sliced surfaces corresponding for a direct pixel-to-pixel comparison results. shown distribution can be rapidly derived result based on alternative error least square method. interactive parameters these processes identified analyzed ferrite phase, which provides information about convergence. Examined by qualitative quantitative statistical analysis, it fourth iteration has prominent similarity with exact distribution. work presented here contributes toward solving paradox comparing crystal plasticity (CP) effective specimen used tests.
